Earth Science Week 2012: Discovering Careers in the Earth Sciences (Oct. 14-20)

 

Earth Science Week encourages people to explore the natural world and learn about the geosciences. "Discovering Careers in the Earth Sciences," the theme of ESW 2012, engages young people and the public in learning how geoscientists gather and interpret data about the Earth and other planets. Opportunity for Middle and High School Students to Publish Climate Research (Notice of intent due Nov. 30)

 

Harvard University's Journal of Emerging Investigators (JEI) has formed a collaboration with the Institute for Earth Science Research and Education to publish a series of peer-reviewed, climate-related research papers written by middle and high school students. Edward C. Roy, Jr. Award for Excellence in K-8 Earth Science Teaching (Apply by Jan. 10, 2013)

 

Each year, the American Geosciences Institute (AGI) recognizes one full-time U.S. K-8 teacher for leadership and innovation in Earth science education. The winner of this award will receive a $2,500 prize and a travel grant of $1,000 to attend the NSTA Annual Conference in San Antonio, Texas.
