Teachers interested in taking an ESSEA course can check the latest list of course offerings at: http://essea.strategies.org/participants/offerings.aspx or may inquire about ESSEA by sending an email to essea@strategies.org.

Current Courses

You may take ESSEA courses as an undergraduate or graduate student.  Three courses are geared toward K-4, 5-8, and 9-12 teachers of geocience or Earth system science.  All courses are generally offered for three semester hours, depending on the sponsoring university.  There is also a teachers’ action research course that may be taken by teachers in grades K-12. This course provides an opportunity for teachers to hone their teaching skills and to reflect on current practice for two or three semester hours.

As a college student you will use the modules your instructor chooses. Courses may be offered for one, two or three credits. Check the listing.

Time Requirements

Modules vary in the length of time required to complete. Some of the K-4 modules may be finished in a period or two.  The PBL modules, on the other hand may take a week or two, depending on how teachers implement them.
